final update

 For the final project "digital painting" I chose to lean into a heavy blue background, creating mountains shifting into darker blues the closer the mountain is to the viewer. Then adding a red ribbon to contrast with the blue colours. Due to this piece being a digital painting I wanted to experiment with small details by zooming and shrinking, so on the furthest mountain I included a campsite with a fire going. 

once I felt like this was a satisfying painting I had to think and choose what id add next, and keeping the theme of nature i chose to include leaves, birds, clounds, and trees, then to include more with the human interaction I included the silhouette of climbers.

 AI converting images with prompts.  Though I have changed my plans for the poor image, I am still going to use this photo of my cat, Cali.      I'm planning to give the photo to the Grok AI system and asking it to manipulate the photo through prompts.      Beginning with this photo I was curious what would happen if I eventually gave the AI free will to do anything it wished to this photo with minimal guidance.  In these first few examples I prompted Grok to saturate the photo, I repeated this a number of times to see how far the AI was willing to go.      I was a little shocked to see how little it actually changed in the start, slowly having to get more and more descriptive with it to push it past what it was willing to do   You can see with these two I asked it to do the same thing twice, and they look nearly identical. this is what made me change my mindset and ask more specific prompts.      this once ...

The Cat

Samuel Johnson     For our first project "the poor image" I have chosen to use a picture of my cat. This is the original photo.     Using this piece I am going to be retaking the photo from my computer screen. sending it over and compressing the image until it looks noticeably different. To further distort this image I will also be shrinking the image and screenshotting it.      Once the photo was compressed and shrunk, the photo begins to look aged. seeing the lines from the pixels. and the darkened, less saturated colors on the animal.     I feel changing the image and looking like this makes both the cat and photo look aged. which to me makes me think about what the cat could look like as of right now. More grey, less colors, and simply older.
